Global Limnology

How are lakes around the world responding to human impacts and global environmental change?

Our research has global reach and implications, with projects and collaborations on all seven continents. The Center for Limnology is the birthplace of the Global Lakes Ecological Observation Network (GLEON), through which many CFL researchers participate in global-scale synthesis studies. Current field research spans the globe, including Mongolia, China, Belize, and Switzerland. Hilary Dugan conducts research on permanently ice-covered lakes of Antarctica as co-PI of the McMurdo Dry Valleys Long-Term Ecological Research project. As global leaders of the limnology community, we continue to build international partnerships and prepare our students to be globally-engaged scholars.
