Recruitment / Hiring Procedures
- Please note that TE appointments can take several weeks to get approved and processed
- Please submit the forms below well before you need your TE to start
- Work with Alyssa Luckey Winters to find a corresponding state job title for the position.
- Once PD is created, please submit it to Alyssa along with:
- The Hiring Authorization Form and LTE Request Form (located below)
- The recruitment efforts for the position (if you plan to recruit)
- Hiring form for your selection applicant (located below, if you already have someone in mind)
UW-Madison Guidelines for Limited Employees:
- Due to ACA guidelines, LTEs may not work more than an average of 29.75 hours per week
- Exceptions apply when the appointment is less than 90 days or when the employee has a seasonal exemption

- The total time worked by an individual TE cannot exceed 1,044 hours in a twelve-month period beginning on the appointment start date (i.e., 26 consecutive bi-weekly payroll periods)
