  • Instructions are below
  • Supervisors of University Staff, TEs, and Student Hourlies will approve time before it’s processed by the biweekly payroll

    Recruitment / Hiring Procedures

  • Please note that TE appointments can take several weeks to get approved and processed
    • Please submit the forms below well before you need your TE to start
  • Work with Alyssa Luckey Winters to find a corresponding state job title for the position.
  • Once PD is created, please submit it to Alyssa along with:
    • The Hiring Authorization Form and LTE Request Form (located below)
    • The recruitment efforts for the position (if you plan to recruit)
    • Hiring form for your selection applicant (located below, if you already have someone in mind)

  UW-Madison Guidelines for Limited Employees:

  • Due to ACA guidelines, LTEs may not work more than an average of 29.75 hours per week
    • Exceptions apply when the appointment is less than 90 days or when the employee has a seasonal exemption

  • The total time worked by an individual TE cannot exceed 1,044 hours in a twelve-month period beginning on the appointment start date (i.e., 26 consecutive bi-weekly payroll periods)
