John J. Magnuson is Professor Emeritus of Zoology, and Director Emeritus of the Center for Limnology, and Emeritus Member of the Limnology and Marine Science Graduate Program.

Magnuson's research activities focus on long-term ecological research on lake ecological systems, potential influence of climate change on inland waters, fish and fisheries ecology, biogeography and landscape ecology of lake and stream systems, and ecological dynamics of biodiversity and invasion.
