The Limnology Library staff processes all library materials that need to be bound, including thesis volumes, and sends them to a professional bindery that is contracted with the UW. The current bindery is The HF Group.
The Limnology Library collects all theses by Limnology graduate students. The library at Trout Lake Station also collects theses involving research done at Trout Lake. The Center for Limnology will pay for the binding of all thesis volumes that go to the library. Students need only drop off a copy of their thesis (two if it will also go to Trout Lake) at the Limnology Library.
Students may order additional personal copies of their thesis to be bound at the same time as the library copies. Personal copies must be paid for in advance; contact Carol Schraufnagel about this. As of Spring 2008, the price of personal thesis copies with Heckman Bindery is $6.15 per volume.
All thesis volumes for the library collection will be bound in black. Students may choose to have their personal copies bound in a different color. See the Memorial Library Binding Unit Color Conversion Chart for a list of colors. Please note that the chart includes information for more than one bindery. Use only the color codes listed for the UW's current bindery. Colors marked with an asterisk (*), such as Light Orange and Medium Blue, have been discontinued. The codes listed for these colors correspond to the closest available color.
